  • Type 1injuries generally have an excellent prognosis and often heal with minimal intervention
  • Type II may require surgical repair of the nailbed and potential reconstruction to prevent long-term deformity
  • Type III fractures will require close attention to healing, sometimes involving fixation or splinting to ensure the bone heals properly and doesn't interfere with function
  • Type IV injuries may involve complex surgical repair, including replantation and potentially long rehabilitation periods
